Happy Christmas!
“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying
in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had
been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the
shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them
in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the
things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”- Luke 2:16-20

Remeber that story I was going to write? well here's that first chapter...Enjoy.
Chapter 1
This story is about Rebecca. I don’t know where she lives, where she works, or what she likes for Christmas, but I can tell you these facts. She’s got a job, (good in this financial climate,) loves shopping, and loves consumerism. I also know she comes from a non-practicing Christian family. You know what? Let’s pay her a visit. Let’s see, three times I say.
Rebecca was just out of school (only a few days off) in which she was now at the local mall buying stuff for Christmas, and waiting for her job at the local clothes store. By the time she had bought all her presents for her family, and was quite tired. She quickly walked to the nearest MacDonald’s, where she waited as an old lady in a light blue jacket was slowly getting change for her meal. Of course she knew what she wanted, “A big Mac meal, medium, with Sprite instead of Coke.” One other person was wateing, and then it was Rebecca.
It was then her turn where she saw a guy around the same age as her behind the counter.
“How can I help you?” The guy asked.
“err.” Memory blank, great, I’ve never had this before. “A Big Mac meal, medium, with a Sprite instead of Coke.”
“Anything else?” the guy asked.
“Nah,” she now reading the nametag, “Luke.” Quickly mark grabbed her meal, and gave it to her, then he gave her the Sprite.
“Here you go.” Rebecca was expecting him to say next please, but she looked behind her shoulder to find no one was behind her. She quickly got to a table, and ate her burger. It was about 5 minutes later when Luke came over to her. “Well, I’m out of there. How are you?”
“Good...Thanks.” She said in a slow, confused voice. “Do you usually talk to strangers?”
“Yep.” Trying to not give away the surprise. “So, what are you got in there?” pointing to the bags.
“Oh, just some Christmas shopping.”
“Oh, sounds great!”
“How come I’ve never seen you before?” fired Rebecca.
“I live quite far away from my job, I’m leaving for a moment, and then I’m working again.”
“I’ve got a job. It’s downstairs.”
“That place...That clothes shop next to the cafe. I’ve seen you work there!”
“Great place to work isn’t it!”
“Yeah. So how are you getting ready for the Christmas season?”
“Mostly putting up the Christmas tree, getting all the decorations out, writing Christmas cards out, sending them to people, and then, oh, our family is having a big banquet, with chicken and turkey, and ham...”
“So with all of that, what does Christmas mean to you?”
“I...I” She paused for a moment. “I don’t know. I always thought of this as a time where we can get together.”
“Can’t you get together any other time?”
“I’d guess so.”
“Do you want to know what it really means?” She nodded.
“Okay, I’ll show you.” An awrkuid silence was with them both.
“Aren’t you going to show me now?”
“If I see you by the time you finish your job, you’ll know I’ll show you what Christmas really means.” Mark got up and left her.
Just before her job started, she first saw the nativity scene outside the shop. There was Baby Jesus, with Mary, Joseph, and three men giving the child expensive boxes. She remembered the story told by...well she couldn’t remember. “Three wise men came to see the Baby Jesus and to give him gifts, because he was so important...for some odd reason.”
She finished her job a 5 PM, where Luke was waiting. He quickly grabbed her. “It’ll happen at 12 AM Tonight. I shall give you more details then. See you.” Luke ran off. Rebecca wanted say something, buy Luke was too fast. She walked home. She said nothing to anyone.
She awoke that night to go to the toilet, just hearing the whisper coming from downstairs. She
walked down suspiciously. Then she recognised the voice. No, it’s Mark she thought to herself.
“Good...late night. Are you ready for the experience?”
“No.” She said in a scared like manner.
“When you will wake up you will be a lamb. It’ll be 2000 years ago. Good night.”
“But...” Rebecca went into a dreary like state. She collapsed on the floor and fell into a deep sleep.
She woke up again and heard an unfamiliar voice. “Get up! It’s been a long day for you.”
It’s all a dream. It’s all a dream. She kept telling herself that, and hopfully this will wake her up. Soon her reality was forming, and soon her eyes slowly opened.
Her eyes started to open when staring in her face was in fact a cow. “Come on...wake up! We don’t want the stableboy take you away!” The cow said. It’s all a bit surreal. She then heard voices, one of them a screaming lady....

Josh's Blog for Advent #13 (I've Seen 27 out of 239 films)
"I guess I’m a loser.
Our friend Erika Anderson, she of former Georgia Bulletin staff writer fame, posted this over on Facebook. I thought it was amusing and funny, but apparently, I’ve wasted a great deal of my life.
SUPPOSEDLY if you’ve seen over 85 films, you have no life. Mark the ones you’ve seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own Facebook account or website, paste this as a note or blog entry. Then, put X’s next to the films you’ve seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun."

"Now Add them up and…
Put “I’ve seen [however many] out of 239 films” in the subject line and repost it on Facebook or your blog. And for that matter, leave a comment here on our website and let us know how many you’ve seen!
And sadly, I didn’t count some movies I started to watch but didn’t finish, or if I’ve only seen parts of a movie. And even more sadly, there are a LOT of movies on this list I should have walked out of."
That was epic.
So I've seen 27 out of 239 films. However I want to see another 19 films, so that would bring it up to 41 films.
See ya.

Hey Guys,
Josh Lama Blog for Advent #9
Still thinking about that story, however I think leave that for at least another day due to speech day tomorrow.
Josh Lama's Blog for Advent #8
Josh Lama's Blog for advent #7
I'm much better.
Josh Lama's Blog for Advent #4-6
If you haven't read the news, the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) has not got the emails for all students. They have this already, but now it's on the Google servers instead the Microsoft servers (I think) Anyway, I think it's cool.
Oh, and I applied for a summer school, and they didn't accept me.
Now, to end on a + note, I'm thinking of telling you a story about Christmas, mainly revolving Jesus Christ Birth and the painting depicted in the Gospel of Matt and Luke in the bible. Thinking more along the lines of guy from 2008 is obsessed with the consumerism of Christmas, and is sent off to the first Christmas as a lamb and witnesses the story there.
Thoughts? Opinions? Comment!

really good tip!

Josh Lama's Blog for Advent!
And so we start off with this.
The inspiration for this was in fact a little video podcast called Grant's Advent Calender. Here's a promo.
And HI to everyone who came from watching that clip. Note, I'm saying in the clip, "(Big breath in and out, followed by a long pause.) 3 days, 8 hours...46 minutes... (Short pause) .... 24 seconds. " So that's where I got this inspiration.
Now the second thing I want to say is that I've got a YouTube account. you can find it @:
http://www.youtube.com/user/Joshlama
You can see such marvelous clips like...The Warriors (Music to an Imaginary Ballet) - Percy Granger.
It's really exiting.
Anyway, I hope tomorrow will be more eventful that this blog post.
See ya!
A Story on Saul.
Yesterday I did another talk for our youth group. I've done previously two already. The first one was based on Jesus saying I am the way, and the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the father except though me. This passage is more of a wake up call to the secular idea of Spirituality. (All religions all say the same thing etc.) The talk is on this blog.
The second one was based on Cain and Abel, in which is all about sin being apart of humanity, not just to say "It was from Adam and Eve!" (not to say that sin is alright, it's still disobeying God.) I've haven't posted that online because of the structure and how it was written. It wasn't my best talk.
And so last night. This time I did Saul's conversion (Saul who becomes Paul, not King Saul). you can find it here. As something a bit different I decided to give the talk as one of Saul's Henchmen. Since Saul's Henchmen aren't in the bible, I had to create a new character. This character is with Saul all the time before the conversion, and so is the typical hating Christian lets-get-rid-of-them Jew. And so, I acted my way as this character for the kids. This character later goes though the motions of the craziness of the events. Finally he becomes a Christan as well. The difficult part was infact the confidence to create a beleavable charater. I've never approached a talk this way.
But, it was a hit.
Alot of the kids enjoyed this new type of talk (storytelling), all of our talks before this have been the typical young teen talk. (except when our youth leader scared everyone with a knife doing an reanactment of Abraham and Issac.) It got the message out, which is important in any talk. but a lot of people (kids and adults) said that I could act! Whoa??? I don't have the confidence to act! ARRGGHH!!!!?!!!?!?!?
Again I won't post the talk up, however you can read the text here.

Yr 12 Art
There is a small inkling that I might start up another blog to help me document the process of what I want to do for my HSC Art Body of work.
I'm looking at the idea of how the Internet is going to place a role on us in the near future. I'm more looking into the 'secret double lives of people on the Internet' and the anonymous of it all. For example, there may be one or two people who know who I am, but there are others who have no clue who I am.
other way to look at it is this...
Berlioz on the left, me on the right.
Hopefully I'll be posting more now.
What Church would be like as money in the middle instead of God.
quick warning. in the middle Christ's name is used in vein. This is a secular film by the way.
What I find distrubing is that some companies do this. say that we are upholding God, but in there for the money. 1 Timothy 6 says,
3If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
Bible is so cool.
THE SIMPSONS NEED YOUR HELP!!!
I'm doing a talk on Cain and Abel, and so that will come out in the next week or so.
See you.

Way, Truth, Life
Blind Man sits at the road and he cried,
Blind Man sits at the road and he cried,
He said Ooh, ooh, ooh...”
Rest will sing, “Show me the Waaaaayyyyyyy,
Show me the Trrrrrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuth.
Show me the Liiiiiiiiifffffffffeeeee.
The way to home baby o,o,o,o,o,o.”
Well, by the way that were singing, you have heard of that song so many times before. We’ve heard the song, and other kid’s songs. We may have studied this verse at Sunday School, or at scripture before...and if you haven’t noticed, we’re studding this at the Net for the last three weeks. But what does it mean? More importantly what does it mean for us? Hopefully I’ll, with God power be able to do this. Let me pray.
[PRAYER.]
So my first point is Jesus Has a Place for you in heaven
Jesus will give you a place. There is much space, in fact space won’t run out. But the thing that I think and will be cool is that we will have a place with Jesus Christ for eternity. Let me show you this, could someone read John 14:1-3. Now some quick context, it has the heading Jesus Comforts His Disciples. Huh? Well, in the previous chapter, the Lord’s Supper has taken place. Now I have some slides to show you what has happened, this by the way were from last years Against the Flow camp, by the way the next one is in September 26-28. But here, Jesus washes the disciples feet, shown here with Tim. Then Jesus says that one of you will betray me. Now in this picture there is something wrong. I’ll give you 5 sec. (Correct answer, Jesus dipped the bread, not Judas.) Then, I couldn’t find a photo of Peter denying Jesus 3 times, nor Jesus saying that Peter will deny him 3 times, but instead I have this. (Click slide)
So, at this point of time, all of the disciples are questioning what has just happened. Therefore, Jesus Comforts his Disciples And he talks about heaven. When we talk about the father’s house, we talk about heaven. There are many rooms in heaven. Space will not run out. When I was in year 7, our school got a phone call from network 7 for some of us to go down to be part of a kid’s game show. Luckily our class got in. But the thing was that some of us would be part of the game itself, contestants as it was. The way to get in was that the school will choose 10 students to go into an audition to see if they filled the part of a contestant. At some schools, they were chosen if you were a school caption, or if you were really really admired at school. We were chosen though a raffle system. We all put our name down, including me, and then waited for each name to be called out. 1 name was called, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. My name was not called out. I did not get my 30 minutes of fame; it was turned into 2 seconds of fame...if you had a widescreen TV. Unlike that instance, we will never miss out, every Christian will be there and room will never run out.
Not only that, but in verse 3, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. Not only will we be in heaven, we will spend eternity with Jesus. Remember your last sleepover with friends, or a camp you went to. Did you enjoy it? Was it so fun, with all your friends? Well, it’s like that for eternity, and it’s there with Jesus Christ. Won’t that be a time to remember?
So what? This is going to be great, but so what now? Well, we should be looking towards heaven. This will be hard, because there will be so many distractions around us, but keep looking towards heaven. And the great time we have there.
Okay, you may be thinking, ‘this is great Josh, but how do we get there?’ Well, could someone read verse 4&7? Well, Thomas was thinking the same thing. ‘This sounds great, but what is this way that we supposed to know?” This leads onto my second point; Jesus is the only way to the father. There is only one way to the father, to heaven. Remember Kez talking about Jesus being the Gate? Well it is repeated here. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO HEAVEN, BUT GOD. And the way to the father is through Jesus. Back to the bible. Verse 5, Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so know can we know the way? Verse 6, Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” There is one word that I find striking – THE. It says I am THE way, and THE truth, and THE Life. It doesn’t say I am A way, A truth, A life. It’s THE. Jesus then backs it up “No one come to the father except through me.” It’s like playing netball, with cricket bats, you can’t do it. Or, let’s say playing soccer, with a hacky sack! I played it with a friend the other day, so I got out my hacky sack, it was actually a juggling ball, and it just didn’t work he kept on picking up the ball, which you can’t do, and were trying to play, but it was just a bit...it didn’t feel right. You have to play soccer with a soccer ball! Why the same with religion. Jesus says I am THE Way to the Father.
So what? Well, I’m not saying go out to your non Christian friends and say that you believe in the wrong god. Don’t do that. What I suggest is for you to... treat them as a neighbour. Jesus says, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbour as yourself.’“ Love your neighbour, and invite them to the Net, or Church; either one! Also remember this when you may be persuaded with other things, other idols that are not God. Jesus is the only way to the father.
Let me pray.
